Cavy's Moving on Up!!

Heidey-ho neighbors.

Just a quick update with some more pictures and video to let you know what's going on in good old Cavy and Eily Land. First, the peanut...well...she's almost three, so she's decided to start the transition early. In the last week and a half or so, she's become very forceful, independent and assertive. Not neccesarily in a bad way...most of the time. Comments like, "I don't think so, Daddy!", "Sure, that's great Daddy" and "No, I wanna..." are becoming common place. At the same time she wants to do everything that Cavan does...from sitting in the bouncy seat or the swing, to calling her sippy's "bottles" and wanting a pacifier...crazy kid. For the most part she listens when I tell her that she is to big for those things and moves on with life...

Cavan is moving up in the world. He's still real runny and snoty from his cold, but he wants to be more upright and definatly has the strength for it. So he's getting lots of practice sitting and standing. His new accomplisment is that Daddy dug out Eily's old Exersaucer for him and he's starting to play in it (heavily supported by blankets and such). If the kid learns to control his legs, I wouldn't be surprised if he's sitting up in the next month or so...he's already got so much strength and control...now it's just training his muscles the right way. Anyway, a bunch of pics below showing Cavy's first Exersaucer experience + two videos posted right underneath...don't forget to check them out!!!!

"Isn't He Cute?" - Eilish Danielle, Age 2

No kidding...she said that during this group of photos...it just seemed like the perfect title to a post.

Well, hello everybody...I know it's been a while. My apologies, life has been crazy lately, between trying to get back into the flow of work and being a single dad. I was sick, they were sick, doctors appointments, shots, on and on and on.

Life is much rougher lately...I find myself getting angrier easier...the trick is finding an outlet. I obviously cannot lash out at the kids...not only would it be highly detrimental to them and kind of cruel, it's not fair for me to let my frustrations out on them. I have a lot of regrets and they've been eating at me a lot lately...but this is a topic for a later post.

Now, on to the fun stuff...the kiddo's.

First, I was supposed to post these forever ago...these pictures were taken around Cavy's 3 month birthday.

What a smile, huh? He's so bloody cute it's not even funny. On to his new tricks...his head is more or less stable now, in fact if you put him on his stomach he will hold it up and look around...for quite a long time. I had him on the floor the other day for the better part of 20 minutes and he never put it down. When you put him on his belly though, he's trying to move. He's already trying to lift himself up with his arms and is frog kicking his legs...I'm in so much trouble. I think we're gonna break out the Exersaucer this week and see how he does...I'll be sure to get lots of pictures.

Speaking of pictures...below are a bunch of pictures that I took today...this series is where the post title came from. I just think he looks so adorable (and grown up) in this outfit. And Christy would have just loved the brown/green combo.

On to Eilish...the little peanut. Her pediatrician agrees, at their doctors appointments a couple of weeks ago, we were talking about how big Cavan is (24 inches, 12 lbs 13 oz...all 50th percentile or above) and her (the pediatrician) comment about Eilish..."She's...umm...petite...isn't she." Hilarious. For the record she was 34 inches and 26.8 lbs...however the weight is skewed because she was still wearing her coat and shoes. They literally don't have a chart that tracks low enough to plot her stats on...but as the doctor said, she's very proportional, so she's fine...just small.

She's growing up so fast...the things she likes to do, the things that she can say, the way that she behaves...I just can't believe it. I still have a hard time sometimes truly realizing that I really am someones dad...and she's going to turn three next month...three, wow! Here are some great pictures of her...she's in short sleeves because it's been gorgeous here for the last week...sunny and in the 50s...we've had the house open and everything.

With that I will leave you until next time...I know you are all waiting for me to memorialize Christy...I just can't...yet. On the positive side of things, I finally got around to having Cavan's birth announcements made and they should be going out this week.

Cavy Learns to Play!

Just a quick update for you...I got a couple more good video's of Cavan playing with that piano. This time you can really see just how much he's enjoying himself and watch him actually whack at the keys and make it work!!!

Boy Do They Grow Up Fast!!!

Hey all...coming to ya from a snowy Seattle...yes...snowy. It does snow here...sometimes. The hilarious part is how no one here can handle it. We have an inch...maybe 2 all the schools are closed (including colleges) people aren't making it to work, etc. It's hilarious. I remember when it snows the very first time after we moved here...maybe 2 inches and still snowing...Christy and I had just said goodbye to my mother and father (they had been visiting for Thanksgiving) and Christy wanted to go to the mall. So we head out to Alderwood Mall and 1/2 the mall was shut down. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving!!! It's so funny.

Anyway, on to the post.

Man it seems like yesterday that Christy was pregnant with Eilish...now with her third birthday bearing down on us it's just amazing the things that they do. Watching her grow from this little ball of pudding into the walking, talking, running around getting into trouble little girl that she's turned into is just amazing. Now she's taking things even further. As previously mentioned she is beginning to potty train...maybe potty familiarize is more the ticket. She like to sit on the potty...she really likes to play with the toilet paper (although I have to give her credit...she tries to wipe). And now she's starting to brush her own teeth...and do it pretty well. I've posted a video of this...keep scrolling down.

And then there is the Cav Man...what a kid. I posted the video of him rolling over at seven weeks. He can sit up if you set him on the couch with his back to the couch back...not quite unassisted yet...he just gets tired of holding his melon up after a while and starts to slide to one side. You put him on his belly and he'll hold his head up forever. Now he's starting to play with one of Eilish's old play gyms. It's a piano type thing that Eilish didn't play with until she was over 3 months old. There are some pics of that (plus one of Eilish playing with it when she was little) and a video below.

And last but not least...was there ever a more appropriate T-Shirt for this child? I remember when we were in the store...Christy was maybe 6 months pregnant and she picked up that shirt and said, "This just seems right...doesn't it?" Boy, she knew something long before the rest of us.

Eily the Big Sister and When Cavy Smiles

That's right all...two posts for the price of one. I just couldn't resist...they give me the cutest pictures and I just couldn't break them up.

Eilish is a phenomenal big sister. She helps Daddy with everything...from helping plug Cavan's paci back in his mouth when he's crying, to pushing him in his swing (sometimes when it's already running...!), to helping me change his "poops" (which is any diaper anytime...) she is always there to lend a helping hand. All the while the wonder peanut is trying to potty train and is absolutely obsessed with the Pixar movie "Monsters Inc."

Below are some pictures showing what a loving big sister she really is and if you go completely below this entire post, there is a video...I tried to get a video of her pushing the already running swing...but she stopped when I got the camera...

Cavy on the other hand is getting bigger and bigger everyday. His current accomplishments include...rolling from belly to back on the floor (I will post video of this at a later time...when I find what I did with it :-P), Consistently eating 4 ounce formula bottles every 4 hours during the day and a 6 ounce formula bottle before bed for the night, and his latest trick...each of the last three nights the child has slept 8+ hours uninterrupted! Is the boy amazing or what???

Oh...and he smiles, too.

Don't forget the video update just below this one. (In other words...keep scrolling down...you're not done yet!)

We love you all and miss you...

Daddy, Eily and Cavy.
